A young woman died in a Louisiana truck crash recently after her Mitsubishi was struck in a head-on collision. The crash occurred in early August in Lafourche Parish on LA 308. A man was driving a Volvo tractor-trailer southbound when he negotiated a curve and noticed another truck slowing down in order to stop for traffic. The truck crash occurred when the Volvo driver attempted to avoid a collision with the other truck.
The Volvo driver reportedly steered the truck to the left, but entered into northbound traffic. As a result, he collided head-on with the 29-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi. The impact caused the woman's vehicle to then strike the second tractor-trailer. According to a news report, and the woman passed away at the scene of the accident
The Volvo driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. The second truck driver did not suffer any injuries as a result of the crash. Authorities do not believe that alcohol was a contributing factor; however, toxicology samples were taken from both the Volvo driver and the deceased woman. Results on those tests are pending. The second truck driver was given a breathalyzer test and has been cleared.
This Louisiana truck crash is still being investigated. Fault has not been determined, but the findings of the investigation report will likely detail the circumstances surrounding this deadly crash. Although alcohol has been ruled out in the preliminary investigation, authorities have not stated whether there were any other external circumstances that could have contributed to this crash. If negligence is cited as a factor in this crash, the deceased woman's family may have the legal right to seek civil action against anyone whose actions contributed to her untimely death.
