To avoid the potential of a dangerous car crash and personal injury, drivers on the road are required to be vigilant for not only other drivers, but pedestrians as well. People walking on roads who do not have the relative safety of a car can be seriously injured or killed if they are struck by a car. In recent news, these dangers were again highlighted after a Lafayette pedestrian was killed in a car crash.

The man was killed early on the morning of April 20 as he was walking near an intersection. Police say the 33-year-old man was struck by a car, and the person responsible left the scene of the accident. When officers appeared on the scene, they determined the man had sustained injuries consistent with being struck by an automobile.

Unfortunately, he died at the scene of the accident. Police were unable to find any witnesses. They were seeking information as part of their continuing investigation and have asked citizens with any information or who may have been in the area close to the accident to step forward with any pertinent information.

This Lafayette man's family will surely want to know exactly what occurred in this fatal car crash. While police work to apprehend the individual responsible for the collision, the family is left to cope with their grief and wonder about their rights under Louisiana law. A wrongful death claim may be appropriate once authorities are successful in locating and detaining the driver involved in the car crash. If the family decides to seek financial compensation, it could help pay final medical costs and funeral expenses and other damages, while also serving as some measure of justice against all parties whose negligence caused or contributed to the tragic incident.
