A good Samaritan has been killed in a Louisiana car accident. The accident occurred late at night on May 4 in Calcasieu Parish. The victim was a passenger in a vehicle that had stopped to assist a stranded motorist when the car accident occurred.

A truck experiencing mechanical failure had pulled over to the shoulder of La. 14. Another vehicle also pulled over in front of the truck in order to jump the engine. A passenger who had been riding in the second vehicle that pulled over to assist, exited the vehicle and walked to the back of the camper the truck had been pulling in order to flag traffic. While he was flagging, he was hit by a 91-year-old man driving a Nissan.

The victim was taken to a Lake Charles hospital but he later passed away as a result of his injuries. The Nissan also struck the camper and the driver was also taken to the hospital suffering from minor injuries. Toxicology samples were taken and will be analyzed. At this time the accident is still under investigation and there have been no charges, as yet, filed against the Nissan driver.

The family of this man will likely want to know the details surrounding this Louisiana car accident as they struggle to cope with the shocking and unexpected loss. All too many accidents occur because of a split second of carelessness on someone's part. Determining who was legally at fault in this accident could open legal doors for the family to later file a wrongful death claim, should they desire to do so and should the facts as they are developed document that the death resulted from the negligent actions of another party.
