A Lafayette, Louisiana, car accident has taken the life of a 56-year-old man. The man was a passenger in a Ford Taurus driving along East Pont des Mouton Road. The car accident occurred when a Mazda struck the Taurus while traveling west on the same road.

The crash occurred on the morning of May 18. The Taurus was exiting Interstate 49 and attempting to enter the westbound lane when it was struck by the Mazda. The Taurus driver and both occupants in the Mazda were injured. However, the man who was a passenger in the Taurus died at a hospital from injuries he sustained in the crash.

No one can ever tell the extent of injuries solely based upon the way a crash looks. Some people can walk away from a totaled vehicle and others can pass away in an accident that appears to be only a minor collision. While it is fortunate that the majority of people involved in this crash were able to escape serious injury, one man died as a result of this one.

There is no indication of who was at fault in this Lafayette car accident, but the crash is still under investigation by authorities. All of the parties involved will want to know the results of the accident investigation as they attempt to sort out what happened and seek to determine their rights and responsibilities under Louisiana law. No charges are pending at this time against any of the drivers but since the accident is still being investigated and more facts will likely come out, that may change.
