A man reportedly responsible for causing a Louisiana truck accident that took the life of a 56-year-old man has been ticketed for his role in the crash. The crash occurred in Greenwood on US Highway 79 recently. The 25-year-old man responsible for the truck accident currently resides in Shreveport.

According to reports, the accident occurred as a group of trucks was headed northbound on the highway. The convoy was transporting oilfield equipment for Frac Tech International Services. The 25-year-old truck driver was said to be following the company truck ahead of him too closely and ended up rear-ending the tractor-trailer. The accident caused a chain reaction, and the truck he hit veered into the southbound lane.

Once the truck crossed over the center line, it crashed head-on into the 56-year-old victim's semi-truck. The driver died from his injuries. The Shreveport driver who hit the truck in front of him was seriously injured. He has been cited for following too closely and for reckless driving.

Louisiana authorities will presumably continue an investigation into the fatal truck accident to determine exactly what occurred. Sadly, though, nothing can change the stark reality that a man lost his life apparently for simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Beyond the emotion turmoil for the man's family is the financial loss -- both from expenses occasioned by the truck accident and the loss of income from the worker. In this type of accident, the family may choose to seek some sense of justice through civil court. The outcome of any police investigation into the accident may help the family make that decision.
