A Louisiana wreck has taken the life of a 56-year-old man. The car crash occurred at an intersection in Gonzales. Authorities believe that the man killed in the crash may have driven right through the intersection without stopping.
The initial investigation suggests that the pickup drove directly into the path of a Dodge Durango that was traveling northbound on LA 30. The Durango crashed into the pickup's driver side door. Another truck on the road also crashed into the pickup. The deceased man's vehicle overturned and landed on the driver's side.
The pickup driver and the female driver of the Durango were transported to the hospital; however, the man was pronounced dead after his arrival. The third driver involved did not sustain any injuries in the car crash. The Durango driver was traveling with two children at the time of the accident. Fortunately both children were restrained in the vehicle and only sustained minor injuries. There have been no updates on the woman's condition or how serious her injuries were in this accident.
Any time a car crash like this occurs, it can bring more questions than answers. At present, authorities are still investigating the wreck but do not believe impairment contributed to the crash. Once the Louisiana accident report is completed, it could offer families a glimpse into what exactly occurred. If negligence is cited as a factor in the accident, the victims could seek compensation through the deceased man's estate. While there has been no word on whether the victims will seek civil legal action, the option is there for them if they decide to press forward with a lawsuit based on allegations of negligence against those parties deemed responsible for the car accident.
