A pedestrian has died after a truck accident in Louisiana. The victim was attempting to cross US Highway 90 when the crash occurred. Authorities are not sure of the circumstances surrounding the truck accident but are continuing to investigate.
A 57-year-old truck driver was traveling west on the highway when he struck the pedestrian. The pedestrian was later pronounced dead by a coroner. The truck driver did not sustain any injuries in the crash.
Troopers have not stated whether they believe alcohol may have played a role in the crash. Toxicology samples have been gathered and will be analyzed to determine if it could have contributed to this tragedy. There has been no official word on what could have caused the truck driver to collide with the pedestrian.
It can be difficult for families to remain idle while awaiting the results of an accident investigation report. However, the report could shed further light on why this accident may have occurred. If negligence is listed as a contributing factor in this truck accident, it could help bolster any legal claims the family may make in the future.
Drivers on Louisiana roads have a duty to obey all traffic laws and ensure the safety of other people on the roads. Distracted driving or operating a vehicle under the influence can often lead to deadly consequences for drivers and pedestrians, although it is not yet clear if that was the situation in this case. If civil action is pursued in this truck accident, the family could collect damages against the driver responsible for the death of their loved one if it is proven that the driver acted negligently so as to cause or contribute to the fatal accident
