A Louisiana man has died of his injuries after a tragic car accident. The man was transported to the hospital after the crash, but later died. Alcohol is suspected to be a contributing factor to this car accident.
The 21-year-old was driving when his vehicle was hit by another driver's truck. The man's girlfriend was also inside of the car at the time of the accident. She sustained minor injuries, but it is unclear whether she was taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
The driver of the truck is suspected of being drunk at the time. He is now facing charges of first-degree vehicular negligent injuring. Reports indicate that he will likely face further criminal charges at a later time. The accident investigation appears to be still pending.
Details surrounding the exact causes of this crash are unknown. However, investigators do believe that the driver of the truck was drunk at the time of the accident. This could help family members of the victim if they decide to press forward with legal action against him. Sometimes families decide to file wrongful death lawsuits in order to send a strong message that drunk driving will not be tolerated.
In addition, this man is already facing one serious criminal charge in connection with this Louisiana car accident and it's very likely additional charges will soon be leveled against him. A conviction on any of these charges does not absolve the man of any civil liability for his potentially negligent actions, however. People who cause injury or death to another person through their actions can often be held both criminally and civilly liable upon the presentation of evidence that they acted negligently.
