A Louisiana car accident has resulted in the death of one woman and injuries to three other people in the same vehicle. The woman was sitting inside of a Honda stopped at a red light. A driver traveling in a Dodge Ram crashed into the rear end of the car. At the time of the car accident, both vehicles were facing the eastbound direction.
Everyone inside of the Honda was properly restrained. Unfortunately, the woman died at the crash scene. The driver of the Honda and two other passengers all sustained injuries and were taken to a local hospital.
The Dodge driver was also properly restrained and did not suffer any injuries in the accident. Authorities performed toxicology tests, but those results have not been released. The accident is still being investigated. Initial reports do not state if any criminal charges are pending.
When a Louisiana resident sustains injuries in a car accident, they may incur medical bills or other costs associated with the crash. Victims may have the legal right to file a personal injury claim against the party deemed responsible. A successful personal injury claim could result in a monetary award, potentially helping offset any financial impact they may have suffered. Although criminal charges are always a possibility when a car accident occurs, any driver responsible for a crash may have to also face their victims in a courtroom if a civil case is filed against them. Filing a claim won't change the loss that has occurred, but it may help families feel as if they've done all they can to seek justice.
